Makkah Al-Mukarramah – In Saudi households, saffron is bought by the gram, but its worth is measured on the scale of hospitality. A few strands of it add color to coffee, enrich rice, and grace tables during Ramadan, Eid, and weddings, with demand surging whenever family gatherings draw near. Because it is one of the world's most expensive spices by weight, consumers inquire about its origin much like they ask about the karat of gold. It is precisely through this question that "Antonio Sotos" enters the Saudi market—the Spanish house that has lived alongside saffron for over a century, making its debut via the Salla platform.

Founded in 1912 and headquartered in the city of Albacete in the Spanish region of La Mancha, Antonio Sotos is managed today by the family's fourth generation. It ventured beyond borders early on, becoming one of the pioneering companies in foreign saffron trade, with its products reaching more than 30 countries across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania. It holds international quality certifications including IFS, BRC, and ISO 9001.

In August 2026, the parent company officially announced its entry into the Kingdom through an exclusive agent established specifically to represent the brand, oversee its distribution, marketing, and cultivate its presence in the local market. The brand selected its online store on the Salla platform as a digital gateway to Saudi customers. The store offers Spanish La Mancha saffron carrying the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) alongside other select varieties, with shipping available across various cities in the Kingdom.

Antonio Sotos González, General Manager of Antonio Sotos, said:

"Since 1912, saffron has been the core of our identity, and for over a century, we have preserved our Spanish heritage while continuously evolving and keeping pace with market transformations. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represents an important milestone in our journey, and our presence through the Salla platform comes as an extension of this path—a step reflecting our dedication to bridging brand heritage with the demands of the digital age, while maintaining the identity and values associated with the name Antonio Sotos across generations."

For his part, Nawaf Hariri, Founder and CEO of Salla, said:

"We are proud that a house with a heritage as deep as Antonio Sotos has chosen Salla as its gateway to the Saudi customer. Saffron in our homes is not merely a passing ingredient; it is part of the hospitality tradition, and our consumers deserve seamless access to trusted origins and over a century of expertise. We are honored to be part of the brand’s journey in the Kingdom and to support its presence among customers across every region."

Antonio Sotos joining the platform reflects the growing trust of international brands in e-commerce as an entry point into the Saudi market. Meanwhile, Salla continues to empower tens of thousands of stores and brands to grow both within the Kingdom and beyond.
