From a single oil and WhatsApp messages to more than 20 products and a purchasing experience that supports growth

Laila Al-Sulami's journey began from a personal experience. She wanted a product that would restore her hair's health after a treatment that affected it, so she researched, learned, and created an oil for herself. Those close to her noticed the difference and started requesting the product. From there, the idea gradually transformed into "Laila Care," the Saudi brand specializing in hair and body care products. However, real growth required more than just a good product; it needed organized time and a clearer purchasing experience.

When I used Salla, I felt like I finally had the time to work on product quality and marketing, because Salla took care of everything. I just uploaded the products and images, and customers started ordering, which gave me more time to talk about my products.

Layla also described the impact of providing multiple payment methods, followed by the activation of Tabby and Tamara, as a qualitative leap in sales, after sales had been moderate during a year without these two payment options.

The challenge

Layla's Care began from the nearby Layla community, through WhatsApp messages and manual orders.

She used to receive the order, write it down, prepare it, package it, and answer customers' questions about the products herself. With all these details, she did not have enough time to market her products or develop the customer experience. She also had no prior experience in e-commerce.

"I was facing the hassle of receiving orders, writing them down manually, preparing, and packaging them, while the customer would ask me: take a photo of the product for me, what is its size? But Salla saved me from all of this."

The solution

In 2023, Layla participated in the "My Store" initiative with the Majid Society.

During this time, she got to know Salla and set up her store step by step. After transitioning from WhatsApp to an online store, displaying products became clearer, completing orders became easier, and orders and reviews began reaching her through an organized process.

This transition not only eased the operational burden but also gave Layla the space to focus on product quality and marketing, opening the door to develop the project from a single product to more than 20 products.

The impact of exceeding store limits

With time available to focus on marketing and product quality, Layla's personal experience has also evolved.

She says she moved from being shy about talking about her products to appearing live and talking about them with confidence, relying on customer experiences. She has also started sharing what she learned with other female merchants, helping them avoid the initial difficulties she went through.
