Makkah – In the Saudi household, saffron is purchased by the gram, yet its value is measured by the scale of hospitality. A few strands of it colour the coffee, flavour the rice, and grace the tables of Ramadan, Eids, and weddings, with demand surging whenever a season bringing families together draws near. As one of the world's most expensive spices by weight, consumers have come to enquire about its origin just as they would ask about the karat of gold. It is precisely through this question that "Antonio Sotos" enters the Saudi market—the Spanish house that has lived with saffron for over a century—making its entrance via the Salla platform.

Founded in 1912, Antonio Sotos is headquartered in the city of Albacete in the Spanish region of La Mancha, and is managed today by the family's fourth generation. Venturing abroad early on, it was among the pioneering companies in foreign saffron trade, with its products reaching more than 30 countries across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania. It holds international quality certifications, including IFS, BRC, and ISO 9001.

In August 2026, the parent company officially announced its entry into the Kingdom through an exclusive agent established specifically to represent the brand, overseeing its distribution, marketing, and the development of its presence in the local market. The brand chose its storefront on the Salla platform as a digital gateway to the Saudi customer. The store offers Spanish La Mancha saffron bearing the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status alongside other selected varieties, with shipping across various cities in the Kingdom.

Antonio Sotos González, General Manager of Antonio Sotos, stated:

"Since 1912, saffron has formed the core of our identity, and over more than a century we have preserved our Spanish heritage, while continuously evolving and keeping pace with transformations in the markets where we operate. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represents an important milestone in our journey, and our presence via the Salla platform comes as an extension of this path—a step reflecting our keenness to combine the brand's heritage with the demands of the digital age, while safeguarding the identity and values associated with the Antonio Sotos name across generations."

For his part, Nawaf Hariri, Founder and CEO of Salla, said:

"We take pride in a house with a heritage as deep as Antonio Sotos choosing the Salla platform as its path to the Saudi consumer. Saffron in our homes is not a fleeting ingredient, but a part of the ritual of hospitality, and this consumer deserves seamless access to a trusted origin and expertise spanning over a century. We are proud to be part of the brand's journey in the Kingdom and to support its presence among its customers across every region."

The addition of Antonio Sotos reflects the growing confidence of international brands in e-commerce as a gateway to the Saudi market. At the same time, Salla continues to empower tens of thousands of merchants and brands to grow both within the Kingdom and beyond.
